2nd Insect Workshop representative picture

Based on the content of the previous edition, the Insect Workshop organized by the URJC Green Office is a biodiversity monitoring and environmental awareness initiative that engages participants in the study of insect habitats and deadwood ecosystems on the Móstoles Campus. The workshop aims to assess the effectiveness of the insect hotels and deadwood structures installed across the campus to support beneficial insects and saproxylic beetles. Through a combination of introductory training, fieldwork, and data analysis, participants learn about the ecological role of insects in urban environments, collect evidence of insect occupation in these habitats, and contribute to the long-term monitoring of campus biodiversity. By combining hands-on scientific observation with environmental education, the activity promotes active participation in conservation efforts and supports URJC’s commitment to enhancing biodiversity on its campuses.
