SWAP and Green Market event

At the end of each semester, two sustainability associations on the Jönköping University campus, come together to host the SWAP and Green Market event. This initiative gives students an opportunity to reduce waste as they move out and declutter at the end of the semester.

The SWAP allows students to exchange primarily clothing with one another. Students donate items they no longer want and attendees can browse and pick up second-hand finds free of charge. The SWAP event aims to raise and spread awareness about second hand shopping waste reduction as an alternative to buying new clothes or items.

The Green Market provides students with the opportunity to sell items they no longer need, making it a great alternative for those who prefer not to donate. 

While the SWAP focuses mainly on clothing, the Green Market is centered around household items, furniture, books, and other belongings. By hosting the two events side by side, SSA and BEES encourage students to extend the life of their possessions, reduce waste, and support a more circular campus community.

Throughout the academic year, students are also welcome to donate items to the SWAP room located at JU and select items in return, allowing the exchange of second-hand items to continue beyond the semester events.
