Decarbonising Cooling - World Refrigeration Day at NTUA (2025)

NTUA's leadership in refrigeration and cooling engineering, a cornerstone of European climate strategy and of the transition away from high-GWP refrigerants, was further consolidated through the first-ever celebration of World Refrigeration Day in Greece, hosted at the historic Averof Building of NTUA's Patission Complex. Organised under the international theme "Cool Skills", the event convened students, engineers, industry professionals and companies in a shared reflection on the future of the sector: from the vital role of the cold chain in society and the economy, to green innovation and the upskilling of the technical workforce that will deliver the F-Gas transition. Bringing together academia, industry and the next generation of engineers under one roof, the event reinforces NTUA's role as a national hub where research, training and policy converge around a common goal, a refrigeration sector that is safer, more efficient and aligned with Europe's climate commitments.
