Teaching related initiatives

SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE. The course: Special Topics in Building Technology 8th Semester – “Construction Analysis, restoration and Preservation in Traditional Buildings” which is running for the last 50years, is usually taking place in remote, and derelict settlements with the aim to rejuvenate the places and deliver good practices of environmental sustainable conservation and adaptive reuse of traditional buildings. Traditional building techniques and practices blend with technology and new materials. The deliverables are always conveyed to the community and municipalities and the student work is presented with exhibition, lectures and even publications to support local stakeholders and owners, and fortify inclusive and participatory practices. This year the work has been done in the small island of Chalki in Dodecanese and specifically the abandoned village Chorio, with the support of the municipality.
