Every year, JU undertakes a number of renovation and expansion projects in collaboration with external contractors. These activities generate indirect environmental impacts, such as construction waste and transportation emissions. To mitigate these effects, JU actively evaluates alternative solutions and prioritizes environmentally certified building practices.

A strong example of this approach is the recent library renovation, where reuse and restoration were central principles. The project focused on preserving and upgrading existing materials wherever possible. Upholstered furniture was reupholstered, worn study tables and bookcase shelves were sanded and refinished, and floors were revitalized through sanding and oiling. In addition, existing bookcase lighting was converted to LED technology, and new energy‑efficient lamps were installed on the study tables.
